Divisional Plan

Professional Learning Funding provided by Manitoba Education - Please provide details below

1) To date, how have you used the money your division received for K-8 teachers' LwICT professional learning in 2008-09 and 2009-10?
*LwICT Faciliator (approx. 10%) to support teachers and students to infuse technology at each school
*Professional learning opportunities and divisional training sessions provided for these mentors
*ESD Summer Institute sessions provided in the area of ICT infusion

2) What professional learning is occurring now because of the extra funding that you previously not able to do?
*The collaboration, and support provided by the ICT facilitator is giving all teachers more confidence and they are experiencing success. As a a result, they are becoming more independent and willing to take more risks as educators..

3) Does your division have any strategies for ongoing professional learning (For example: Professional Learning Community - online, face-to-face, mentors, etc?)

  • Our division has ICT Faciliators at each school and Professional Learning Communities are established at each school (Early Dismissals), as well as divisional PLC's.

4) What successful strategies would you like to recommend to other divisions?
There has to be a strategic plan in place over a period of time which accommodates the infusion of ICT in the classroom. Our division has identified ICT as a priority for years and has developed an ICT strategic plan which has been supported with school facilitators/mentors, infrastructure, hardware, and software which supports the learning intitiatives. Our division has utilized the LwICT continuum from the onset and has reported on the three competencies from the beginning of its implementation phase. Our division has identified electronic portfolios and/or E-Pearl as an expectation for each student.
